Sample data lets you explore MindSalt before entering your organization's information.
Add sample data during set up #
- Sign in as the account owner or a system administrator who can manage account set up.
- Open the set up wizard from Home.
- Select Populate with sample data.
- Wait for MindSalt to finish creating the demo records.
- Select Start exploring.
The sample-data option is intended for new trial accounts. It may disappear after set up is complete or after the account begins using real data.
Explore the sample account #
Use the demo records to review:
- client, project, and task relationships,
- time and expense entry,
- approval workflows when enabled,
- dashboards and reports,
- and the difference between employee and administrator views.
Avoid editing sample records into real company records. Create separate production records after the evaluation is complete.
Remove sample data #
- Open Admin, then Subscription.
- Find the sample-data cleanup option.
- Open the removal preview.
- Review every record type and count shown.
- Confirm removal only when the preview contains MindSalt-created demo data.
- Refresh the application and verify that the demo clients, projects, time, and expenses are gone.
Some trial configurations also show the cleanup option in General settings. Review the preview before confirming.
Warning: Sample-data removal is destructive. It is not a general-purpose cleanup tool and should not be used when the preview includes production records or when you are unsure how a record was created.
Continue with real set up #
After removing the sample data:
- Confirm company, timezone, currency, and terminology settings.
- Create employees and assign security roles.
- Create clients, projects, and tasks.
- Configure time, expenses, and approvals as needed.
- Ask a small group of users to test time entry, expenses, and approvals before rollout.
