Tracked time keeps a running balance for a time off item and can use automatic accruals.
Tracked time is a Time Off that has the 'Is Balance Tracked' option enabled (see Time off).
When balances are tracked, each employee will have their own running balance for the specified time off. An employee may view their available tracked time balances on the Timesheet screen. Administrators may use the Employee Time Balances & Accruals screen to alter an employee's balance for a particular tracked time off.
Automatic Accuruals may be enabled for tracked time off. The automatic accrual functionality exists at three levels:
- Individual Employee level. Ex: John has been with the company for 15 years and should be configured to accrue vacation time at 6 hours every two weeks.
- The Employee Type level. Ex: Managers should accrue 4.5 hours of personal time every two weeks.
- The Time Off level. Ex: All employees should accrue vacation time at 3 hours every two weeks.
Tip: Note: Automatic accrual policies are run by the MindSalt system between the hours of 2:00 AM – 4:30 AM Eastern Time.
For example, let's assume at 9:00 AM (Eastern Time) you configure a time off to automatically add 3 hours to each employee's balance. You then configure this policy to run every 2 weeks and set the 'Start Automatic Accruals On' to today's date. Because the MindSalt system has already processed all automatic accrual policies in the system for the day, the automatic accrual you just configured will not run until the next accrual cycle (in this case it would be 2 weeks from today).
