Reports organize the time, expense, project, employee, and billing data you can access into summaries, detailed reports, and exports.

Open Reports #

Browse to Reports.

Notice: Your security roles, enabled modules, employee access, and project access determine which reports and data you can see.

Find a report #

Open Reports and select the report that contains the information you need. The list may include standard reports, data exports, invoices, and reports created for your organization.

The Reports page shows only reports included in your security roles. If a report is missing, ask an administrator to review your report access.

Set report options and filters #

The Report Options page varies by report. Common choices include:

  • a single date or date range,
  • quick dates such as Week-to-Date, Last Week, Month-to-Date, or Current Timesheet,
  • employees, clients, projects, tasks, departments, or status,
  • detail or summary choices,
  • sorting and grouping,
  • inclusion of archived records,
  • and output type.
  1. Select the date or date range.
  2. Set only the filters needed for the question.
  3. Choose the output.
  4. Review other options.
  5. Select the action to create or view the report.

Start with broad criteria when you are unsure, then narrow the output. Some detailed reports limit the maximum date range.

View, print, or download output #

Output behavior depends on the report:

  • HTML opens in the viewer and offers Print.
  • PDF opens or downloads a PDF.
  • Excel and CSV provide a download link.
  • Other exports can provide a ZIP, QuickBooks file, or another report-specific format.

Wait for report generation to finish. Do not repeatedly submit a large report.

Warning: Exported files can contain employee, client, cost, billing, and receipt information. Store and share them according to your organization's policy.

Troubleshooting #

The report is empty #

Widen the date range, remove filters, and confirm that source records exist and are within your access.

A report takes too long #

Use a shorter date range or narrower filters. Avoid running the same large report in several tabs.

A downloaded file does not open #

Confirm the file completed downloading and use an application that supports its format. Run the report again if the file is incomplete.
