Create the account, verify the account owner, and use the setup wizard to explore sample data or create the first real client, project, tasks, and team member.
Notice: The wizard appears only for a new or trial account and a user who can manage account setup. If the wizard was completed or skipped, use the regular Admin screens instead.
Start a free trial #
- Select Sign up from the MindSalt sign-in page.
- On Start Your Free Trial, enter First name, Last name, Email, and a password of at least eight characters.
- Review and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Select Continue.
- On Check your email, enter the six-digit verification code.
- Select Verify email.
- Enter the company name and choose the company size.
- Optionally answer how you heard about MindSalt.
- Choose the features the organization will use: Time Tracking, Expense Tracking, Approvals, and Accruals.
- Select Create my account.
If the verification email does not arrive, check the spam folder and select Request a new code after the displayed cooldown.
Choose how to set up the account #
When the setup wizard opens on Home, choose:
- Populate with sample data to add demo clients, projects, time entries, and expenses for exploration.
- Start guided setup to create real starter records step by step.
Explore with sample data #
- Select Populate with sample data.
- Wait while MindSalt creates the demo records.
- Select Start exploring.
- Review dashboards, reports, time, and expenses.
Sample data is meant for evaluation. Remove it before entering production data. See Use and remove sample data for the cleanup steps and safeguards.
Complete guided setup #
Create your first project #
- Enter Project name.
- Select Create project.
Add a client #
- Choose Create a new client or Use an existing client when both are available.
- Enter or select the client.
- Review the project connection.
- Select Save client.
Add tasks #
- Enter one or more task names.
- Select Add another task as needed.
- Select Save tasks.
Add the task names shown in the wizard. You can create more tasks later under Admin, Projects, Tasks.
Invite a team member #
- Enter First name, Last name, and Email.
- Select Invite team member.
- Add another team member if the wizard provides that option.
- Select Finish setup, or Skip for now.
What happens next #
The project, client, and tasks become regular MindSalt records. Before employees begin entering real data, review project visibility and assignments, security roles, time settings, expense settings, and approvals. Ask a small group of users to test time entry and expenses before the full rollout.
